Robbie Gould retired from the NFL after 18 seasons.
Gould last played for the 49ers in 2022, converting on 27-of-32 field goals. Gould, whose retirement announcement comes the day after his 41st birthday, entered the league as a rookie UDFA in 2005 with the Patriots. He was released by the Patriots at the end of the preseason and eventually caught on with the Bears in October of that same year. Gould would go on to kick 11 seasons for the Bears before spending one year with the Giants and then closing out his career with six seasons as a 49er. Gould steps away from the game having made 86.5 percent of his field goal attempts and 97.5 percent of his extra points.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports 49ers K Robbie Gould will test free agency this offseason and is likely to be kicking elsewhere in 2023.
Gould kicked for San Francisco for each of the previous six seasons. The league’s eighth most accurate kicker (86.5%) has made 447 career field goals and still stands as Chicago’s all-time leading scorer. The lone blemish in his kicking profile at this point in his career is a relative lack of leg strength to be able to reliably make field goals over 50 yards. He should draw significant interest on the open market.

Robbie Gould (knee) is off the 49ers final injury report for Week 6.
His injury has likely cleared up enough for him to take kicks in the fantasy feast sure to come from 49ers/Falcons. The team had added Sam Sloman to the practice squad earlier in the week, but Gould was able to practice on both Thursday and Friday.

Robbie Gould (knee) practiced in full on Thursday.
It’s quite an upgrade for the 39-year-old kicker. The 49ers did bring in practice squad kicker Sam Sloman this week, but this designation would seem to suggest that it was a case of being overly cautious rather than Sloman replacing Gould this week. Gould missed practice entirely on Wednesday. The run-heavy 49ers/Falcons game probably doesn’t project as a fantasy gold mine for either kicker.

Robbie Gould (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
This DNP is not a great sign for Gould’s availability this week, and the 49ers signing Sam Sloman to the practice squad is another indication Gould will sit. Sloman will be a decent fantasy option if he gets the start.

49ers signed K Sam Sloman to their practice squad.
This has been a precursor over the last few weeks for a kicker deactivation -- and there have been a ton of injured kickers in fantasy leagues so far. Robbie Gould is dealing with a knee bruise and could be an inactive candidate for Week 6. Sloman was with the Steelers in training camp and hit 11-of-13 field-goal attempts for the Rams and Titans last year while missing four of 35 extra points.

Speaking Monday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Robbie Gould (knee) will be reevaluated on Wednesday.
Gould exited Sunday’s game against the Panthers with a knee contusion after making a tackle on a kickoff. Shanahan said that the 49ers will work out kickers on Tuesday in the event that Gould is unable to play in Week 6 against the Falcons. We’ll likely know more about Gould’s Week 6 status on Wednesday.

49ers K Robbie Gould exited Week 5 against the Panthers with a knee injury and will not return.
P Mitch Wishnowsky attempted a third-quarter PAT and missed wide left by 50 feet. The Niners will be in the kicker market this upcoming week.

49ers activated K Robbie Gould (groin) off injured reserve.
Gould hasn’t played since Week 3. He didn’t carry an injury designation headed into Week 4 but suffered a groin injury in pregame warmups and was unable to play. Joey Slye has filled in for San Francisco in the meantime, but he was released on Wednesday in anticipation of Gould’s activation.

49ers placed K Robbie Gould (groin) on injured reserve.
As expected. Joey Slye, most recently with the Texans this year, was signed to replace Gould, who was injured during pregame warmups of San Francisco’s Week 4 loss to Seattle. He’ll be eligible to come off injured reserve in Week 9.
