Bears signed EDGE Rasheem Green, formerly of the Texans, to a one-year contract.
Green languished until May in free agency last offseason, and he at least gets in before the draft in 2023. Green had 3.5 sacks for the Texans in 2022 after a 6.5-sack season with Seattle in 2021. He’s a depth addition on the edge for the Bears.

Texans declared WR Tyler Johnson, QB Kyle Allen, LB Garret Wallow, LB Jake Hansen, DL Thomas Booker, OL Austin Deculus, and DL Rasheem Green inactive for Week 1 against the Colts.
Johnson, who was claimed on waivers, seems to not be completely up to speed with the playbook just yet. Rasheem Green was the only player actually listed on the injury report, with a thigh injury that had him questionable, after the team sent Mario Addison to injured reserve. It’s a little surprising to see the supposed backup quarterback Allen inactive. Wallow, too, seemed to have his backers in the building though he missed plenty of training camp with an injury.

Texans signed EDGE Rasheem Green, formerly of the Seahawks.
The contract details are not yet known. Green was drafted by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2018 draft and hit free agency at the end of his rookie deal. He logged 6.5 sacks last season. And turning 25 in May, he could still have another level to his game. He is likely to operate as a rotational pass rusher for the Texans.

Free agent DE Rasheem Green visited the Texans on Monday.
Green has had more than his fair share of visits this offseason, though no team has been willing to sign him yet. He has met with the Texans, Ravens, and Panthers since the start of free agency. Reports have also noted that he has had talks with Seattle this offseason. It’s possible that all interested teams are waiting to see how the draft shakes out before adding a veteran pass-rusher. Green logged 6.5 sacks on a career-high in snaps last year.

  • Defensive End #97
Free agent DE Rasheem Green visited the Panthers on Wednesday.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Green visited the Ravens in March and is still in contact with Seattle, where he played in 2021. Green logged 6.5 sacks across 16 starts last year. Just a few days from turning 25 years old, the Ravens and Panthers could see him as a player who has yet to reach his ceiling. The former third-round pick should have no problem finding a home as a rotational pass-rusher with some upside.

  • Defensive End #97
Free agent DL Rasheem Green is visiting the Ravens on Wednesday.
Green was drafted by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2018 draft and is coming off an 6.5-sack season and a career-high 847 snaps. He profiles more as solid depth than a strong starting option, but the Ravens could use the help. It’s also possible that Green has yet to hit his ceiling, entering just his age-25 season.

  • Defensive End #97
Seahawks selected USC DE Rasheem Green with the No. 79 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Green (6’4/275) turned pro after three years as a Trojan, amassing 20 career tackles for loss with 16.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. Green earned first-team All-Pac 12 from the conference’s coaches in 2017 and logged 40 QB pressures (PFF), tied for fifth most among draft-eligible interior defensive linemen. A 63rd-percentile athlete, Green is an underdeveloped version of Michael Bennett -- who the Seahawks traded away this offseason -- with potential to win both on the edge and inside, but he badly needs weight-room and technical work.

Seahawks signed third round DE Rasheem Green to a four-year contract.
Green was miscast as a defensive tackle at USC. He’ll play most his snaps at five-technique in Seattle and should be an immediate part of the defensive line rotation. With Green under contract, the Seahawks have signed their entire draft class.
