Packers LBs coach Winston Moss said Monday night that the Raiders have not contacted him regarding their head-coaching vacancy.
Moss immediately became the presumed front-runner to replace Hue Jackson once the Raiders hired Reggie McKenzie, but Oakland’s GM hasn’t called yet. “If the Raiders were to call and ask, I’ll be ready to speak with them,” said Moss. “But nothing’s changed from last week. ... If there’s an opportunity that comes up in the future, we’ll probably cross that bridge at that time.”

NFL.com reports Dolphins secondary coach Todd Bowles has “been assured” he’s a legitimate candidate for the Raiders’ head-coaching vacancy, and that the team “won’t automatically hire a Packer.”
Bowles interviewed for the job on Friday, but the wide perception around the league is that new Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie wants to hire an assistant from his former club. Bowles is also a candidate for the defensive coordinator job in Minnesota, and reportedly has “strong support” amongst Dolphins’ players to be the team’s next head coach.

The Raiders have received permission to interview Broncos OC Mike McCoy and DC Dennis Allen for their head coaching vacancy.
New Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie is following through on his promise to consider candidates outside of the Packers organization. It doesn’t sound like he’s in a rush, either. McKenzie has already spoken to Todd Bowles and figures to interview Packers LBs coach Winston Moss, DC Dom Capers, OC Joe Philbin and maybe QBs coach Tom Clements.

The Cowboys reportedly denied the Raiders permission to interview special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis for an assistant head coaching position.
DeCamillis would have been a trusted voice for new coach Dennis Allen to lean on for game and player management. The two men worked together on the staff of Dan Reeves, DeCamillis’ father-in-law, with the Falcons from 2002-2005. DeCamillis still hopes to becomes a head coach in the future.

The Raiders reportedly interviewed ex-Chargers DC Greg Manusky for their defensive coordinator vacancy.
The Chargers defense fell off after replacing Ron Rivera with Manusky while the 49ers defense surged to elite status after moving on from Manusky. According to the Union-Trib San Diego, “many in the organization, including several players, had been convinced for some time that hiring Manusky was a mistake.”

The Broncos have denied LBs coach Richard Smith permission to interview for the Raiders’ defensive coordinator vacancy.
The Broncos won’t be letting new Raiders coach Dennis Allen pillage his former staff. Smith was a candidate to replace Allen as the Broncos’ defensive coordinator before Jack Del Rio was hired. ESPN.com reports former Chargers DC Greg Manusky and 49ers DBs coach Ed Donatell are potential candidates to run Allen’s defense in Oakland.

Raiders hired Jason Tarver as defensive coordinator.
Tarver will work as second fiddle to defensive-minded head coach Dennis Allen, who has left the door open to run either a 4-3 defense or 3-4 in Oakland. Tarver ran a 3-4 at Stanford, which may hint at Allen’s plans. Tarver, 37, worked last season as a co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Cardinal. He was the Raiders’ pick over Packers CBs coach Joe Whitt Jr.

The Raiders have scheduled a head-coaching interview with Dolphins secondary coach Todd Bowles.
Bowles is commonly used by NFL teams to satisfy The Rooney Rule, and the fact that he’s Oakland’s first interview suggests this meeting will be no different. Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie is expected to focus his search on former Packers assistants, specifically LBs coach Winston Moss and safeties coach Darren Perry. Green Bay CBs coach Joe Whitt may be a dark horse candidate.

Citing two league sources, the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Packers LBs coach Winston Moss is the “frontrunner” to replace Hue Jackson as the Raiders’ next head coach.
It’s pretty clear Jackson’s successor will be uprooted from the Packers, following new GM Reggie McKenzie. The Chronicle mentions Moss, safeties coach Darren Perry, offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, and QBs coach Tom Clements as interview candidates. Moss was on Al Davis’ radar for the past two offseasons, so the late Raiders owner would approve. A six-year Packers assistant, Moss earned the title of assistant head coach to Mike McCarthy in 2007.

In addition to Packers LBs coach Winston Moss, the Raiders are reportedly interesting in talking to Green Bay DC Dom Capers about their head coaching vacancy.
Capers’ name was “floated” in a report by NFL Network. Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie is said to be interested in talking to him “once the Packers season is concluded.” If McKenzie is limiting his search to Green Bay assistants such as Moss, Capers, OC Joe Philbin, and QBs coach Tom Clements, there’s no hurry to make a hire.
