The Jaguars brought back five “exclusive rights” free agents on Monday including special teams player Jimmy Redmond, backup QB Quinn Gray, CB Blue Adams, LB Tony Gilbert and DB Ray Perryman.
Expect these roster filler signings to continue this month. Redmond is the best bet to be on the active roster every week.
  • KC Quarterback
Free agent Quinn Gray left Oakland Wednesday without a contract.
He remains on the Raiders’ radar, but it’s never a good sign when a player is allowed to leave. Gray also visited with the Packers earlier in the week.
  • KC Quarterback
NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reports free agent QB Quinn Gray visited with the Packers on Monday.
No Aaron Brooks yet. On Tuesday, Gray will visit the Raiders, who Schefter says are “very interested” in having him behind JaMarcus Russell. Gray’s best chance for playing time would be in Oakland, particularly if Russell is truly pushing 300 lbs. The Pack seems sold on Aaron Rodgers as a starter.
  • KC Quarterback
Texans signed QB Quinn Gray to a one-year, $645,000 contract.
Gray, 28, went 2-2 as a starter in place of David Garrard (ankle) last year. His TD:INT ratio was 10:5 and YPA a decent 6.8, but Gray completed only 55.6% of his passes. His accuracy is his biggest downfall. Still, the athletic former Jaguar is capable of being an above average No. 2 quarterback. The Vikings offered a third-round pick for current Texans backup Sage Rosenfels in late February. Expect talks to rekindle on or before draft day.
  • KC Quarterback
Texans released QB Quinn Gray and OL Jordan Black.
They must be glad they didn’t trade Sage Rosenfels now. Gray looked promising as a backup in Jacksonville, but didn’t show up to offseason workouts in great physical shape and struggled adjusting to coach Gary Kubiak’s system. The Raiders could make a strong push to sign him. Black served as Houston’s fourth tackle in 2007.
  • KC Quarterback
Quinn Gray signed his one-year exclusive rights tender from the Jaguars.
He’ll face an uphill battle to keep his No. 3 quarterback role.
  • JAX Quarterback
    Jaguars released QB Tim Couch.
This could be the end for Couch. If the Jags keep a third QB, it will likely be Quinn Gray. The team also officially placed OL Stockar McDougle on IR and signed DEs Seth Payne and Tyler King.
  • KC Quarterback
Quinn Gray will be the Jaguars’ starting quarterback while David Garrard recovers from a high ankle sprain.
If the four-week timetable for Garrard’s recovery holds up, Gray will see Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Tennessee, and San Diego. Gray is mobile so he has some potential, but with a weak receiving corps and only so-so matchups going forward, the former undrafted Florida A&M product is a mediocre QB2 pickup.
  • FA Quarterback #4
David Garrard has a high ankle sprain and will miss the next three-to-four weeks, according to Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio.
Del Rio added that the injury might linger and keep Garrard out as many as six weeks. You can drop him if you don’t have a quality every-week starter and need a backup. Quinn Gray played poorly against Indianapolis Monday night, and doesn’t have many favorable matchups in the near future. The Jags will likely either sign a free agent like Aaron Brooks or activate rookie Lester Ricard from the practice squad.
  • FA Quarterback #4
David Garrard left Monday night’s game with an ankle sprain, and did not return after halftime. According to ESPN, coach Jack Del Rio estimates that he’ll miss the next two weeks with the injury.
Garrard was forced to step up in the pocket, and Colts lineman Ed Johnson fell into his leg, causing it to bend awkwardly. Garrard walked to the locker room, returned for some more first-half series, but wasn’t healthy enough to play after halftime. He completed 8-of-12 passes for 72 yards before leaving. Quinn Gray will replace him.
