  • FA Safety #6
    Seahawks released S Quandre Diggs.
Diggs and fellow safety Jamal Adams were both let go by the Seahawks. Their release comes with a savings of $27.5 million in cap space, per Pelissero. Diggs totaled 95 tackles and one interception for the Seahawks last season and earned a PFF coverage grade of 55.7. A former four-time Pro Bowler, Diggs will be 31 at the start of next season and can still provide ample help to a secondary in need of a veteran presence.

Seahawks listed S Jamal Adams (knee) as questionable for Week 3 against the Panthers.
According to head coach Pete Carroll Adams is “as close as you can get” to playing in Week 3. It doesn’t sound like Adams is a lock to go on Sunday, but Carroll also added that he is very likely to play in Week 4 against the Giants if he’s unable to go this week.

Seahawks restructured the contract of S Quandre Diggs.
Diggs self-reported his own deal on social media, announcing that his 2023 salary has been converted into a bonus. Selected by the Lions in the sixth-round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Diggs is now heading into his ninth year in the league and his fifth with the Seahawks. The veteran safety has been named to three-consecutive Pro Bowls and has 17 interceptions in 55 regular season games with the Hawks. He remains under contract with the team through 2024.

Seahawks S Quandre Diggs (knee) is active for Week 3 against the Falcons.
Justin Coleman (calf) is inactive. Joining Coleman on the shelf are CB Artie Burns, CB Sideney Jones, S Joey Blount, WR Dareke Young, OG Jake Curhad and DE Shelby Harris.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said S Quandre Diggs (knee) “looks good to play” Week 3.
Diggs sat out practice on Wednesday and is officially questionable on the final injury report, but there never appeared to be much concern about his availability. The Seattle secondary is likely to be without CB Justin Coleman, who is doubtful with a calf injury.

Seahawks S Quandre Diggs (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Diggs also sat out last Wednesday before returning to a full practice Thursday and playing every snap against the 49ers. That will likely be the plan again this week.

Seahawks FS Quandre Diggs (ankle, leg) expects to be ready for training camp.
Diggs was given a 4-6 month timeline after breaking his leg and dislocating his ankle in the season finale. The Seahawks are counting on him returning to pre-injury form, signing Diggs to a three-year, $40 million extension in March. Diggs participated in minicamp but wasn’t cleared for full-speed drills. He’ll be six months removed from surgery for the start of training camp.

    Seahawks re-signed S Quandre Diggs to a three-year, $40 million contract.
Diggs, 29, always seemed likely to return to Seattle, even after the Seahawks didn’t use the franchise tag on him. Diggs is expected to be ready at some time during training camp after breaking his leg and dislocating his ankle in the season finale. That injury likely limited his market some, but the Seahawks resurrected his career a bit after acquiring him from the Lions. It’s a solid keep for Seattle’s defense.

Seahawks did not assign the franchise tag to FS Quandre Diggs.
Diggs suffered a broken fibula and dislocated ankle in Week 18 but all reports have him back well ahead of training camp. If that’s the case, his contract negotiations shouldn’t be impacted by the injury. Diggs has 10 interceptions and 17 pass defenses over the past two years. He has also received a Pro Bowl nomination in both of his full seasons with the Seahawks. Diggs and the Seahawks have already begun talks about a new deal so it’s likely that he remains in Seattle for the upcoming season. However, the lack of a franchise tag gives him a chance to test the open market.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Quandre Diggs (ankle) is expected to be fully cleared by June.
Diggs suffered a broken fibula and dislocated ankle in Week 18, and underwent surgery in January. He’s now out of his cast and doctors say his recovery is going well. A June return to football activities would set Diggs up for a full training camp. The 29-year-old is an impending free agent. His progress so far should boost his free agent market, and his chances of getting a contract extension offer from the Seahawks.
