Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Outside linebacker Anthony Nelson will continue his career with Tampa Bay.
Nelson has agreed to return to the Buccaneers on a two-year deal, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Nelson, 28, was a Tampa Bay fourth-round pick in 2019 and has spent his time in the NFL with the franchise, playing 92 games with 18 starts.
He’s recorded 18.5 sacks, 26 tackles for loss, and 42 QB hits in his career. In 2024, Nelson finished the season with 40 total tackles, 4.0 sacks, six tackles for loss, and a career-high 13 QB hits.
The Browns are adding a former first-round pick to their defense.
Cleveland has agreed to sign edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to a one-year deal, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.
Tryon-Shoyinka, 25, recorded 15.0 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, and 35 QB hits in his 66 games for the Buccaneers over the last four seasons. He was selected at No. 32 overall in 2021 — the year after Tampa Bay won Super Bowl LV.
In 2024, Tryon-Shoyinka finished with 24 total tackles, three tackles for loss, four QB hits, and 2.0 sacks in 15 games. He was on the field for 5 percent of defensive snaps in games played.
Now Tryon-Shoyinka will have a chance to play opposite Myles Garrett in 2025.
Veteran punter Riley Dixon is on the move in free agency.
Dixon has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Buccaneers, according to multiple reports.
The 31-year-old Dixon originally entered the NFL as a 2016 seventh-round draft pick of the Broncos. He played two years in Denver, then four with the Giants and three with the Rams, before returning to Denver in 2023 and playing the last two seasons with the Broncos.
The Broncos will now look for a new punter, while the Bucs have their own new punter in the fold.
The Jaguars are adding a key piece for their offensive line who has familiarity with new head coach Liam Coen.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Jacksonville has agreed to sign center Robert Hainsey to a three-year deal.
Rapoport notes the contract is worth $21 million with $13 million guaranteed.
Hainsey, 26, was a third-round pick in 2021. He started at center in 2022 and 2023 but moved back to a reserve role in 2024 after the club drafted Graham Barton at No. 26 overall.
In four seasons, Hainsey has 60 appearances with 35 starts. He’ll now be a key piece in implementing Coen’s offensive system, as he played under it when Coen served as Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator in 2024.
The Jaguars have also agreed to terms with Patrick Mekari on Monday to improve the club’s offensive line.
No, the Buccaneers didn’t agree to terms with running back Samaje Perine on a three-year $22 million deal. Or on any deal.
Instead, Perine will be returning to the Bengals after a two-year break.
It’s a two-year deal, worth up to $3.8 million. Which is quite the difference from three years and $22 million.
Perine spent three full seasons with the Bengals before playing for the Broncos in 2023 and the Chiefs in 2024. His best year came as a rookie with Washington in 2017, when he rushed for 603 yards. Last year, he had 92 yards in 16 regular-season games with the Chiefs.
The race to Twitter has its pitfalls. Unrelated to Monday’s struggles by Twitter to remain available.
Bucs G.M. Jason Licht took to the social-media platform to dispute a report from Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houston that Tampa Bay had reached a deal with Chiefs running back Samaje Perine.
The story was then amplified by the aggrebots. Licht mobilized.
“No we did not,” Licht tweeted.
It’s nice to see someone willing to correct the record when it needs to be corrected. Especially on a day when far too many tweets are being taken as Gospel truth.
Haason Reddick has found a new team at the start of the negotiating window.
According to multiple reports, Reddick has agreed to a one-year deal with the Buccaneers.
The initial reports indicate Reddick’s deal is worth $14 million with $12 million guaranteed.
He was No. 22 on PFT’s list of the top 100 free agents of this offseason.
Reddick was traded from the Eagles to the Jets last offseason and did not report to the club until midway through the year. He ended up playing 10 games with two starts for New York, recording a sack, two tackles for loss, and three QB hits.
Reddick had been plenty productive for the two seasons prior with the Eagles, tallying 16.0 sacks in 2022 and 11.0 sacks in 2023.
Now he’ll presumably be with the Buccaneers for the duration of the offseason and ready to be productive to start 2025.
As free agency opens, one of the top receivers is staying put.
Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Chris Godwin has agreed to terms to return to the Buccaneers. It’s a three-year, $66 million deal with a chance to push the $22 million APY to $24 million.
Of the amount, $44 million is guaranteed at signing.
Adam Schefter of ESPN adds that the Patriots were making a push to sign Godwin.
He suffered a season-ending injury during a Monday night loss to the Ravens.
Godwin, who has played all eight years in Tampa Bay, will continue to play for the Bucs,
The Buccaneers are bringing back one of their key offensive pieces from 2024.
Per a report from NFL Media, Tampa Bay has agreed to a three-year deal with guard Ben Bredeson.
The initial numbers indicate Bredeson’s deal is worth $22 million with $12 million guaranteed.
Bredeson, 27, signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers last offseason and started all 17 games for the club.
Bredeson is No. 53 on PFT’s list of the top 100 free agents this offseason.
While Bredeson was a Ravens fourth-round pick in 2020, he was traded to the Giants in 2021 and spent three seasons with New York.
He has appeared in a total of 62 games with 42 starts over the last five years.
The inside linebacker market is drying up quickly, with Zack Baun, Bobby Wagner and now Lavonte David re-signing.
David agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $10 million with $9 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports.
David is 57th on PFT’s list of top-100 free agents, but the only question was whether he would retire. David posted on social media Friday that he was returning or a 14th season.
“I love the game too much to give it up just yet. . . . Tampa I’m not done yet!” he wrote on Instagram.
David 35, played all 17 games last season and totaled 122 tackles, 5.5 sacks, one interception, six passes defensed and three forced fumbles.
He has spent his entire career with the Bucs since they have him a second-round pick in 2012.
