The Cardinals weren’t done getting the band back together when they re-signed Clark Haggans last week.
Defensive end Vonnie Holliday is also returning for another year in the dry desert air. The Cardinals announced that they have re-signed Holliday to a one-year contract on Monday afternoon. It’s a move they’ve wanted to make for some time, but wasn’t feasible until after they got Calais Campbell squared away with a new contract.
Holliday played in all 16 games for the Cardinals as a reserve last season, recording 16 tackles and no sacks. With Campbell and Darnell Dockett still around, Holliday will be in a similar reserve role this season. Assuming nothing interferes between now and Week One, this will be Holliday’s 15th season in the NFL. He’s also played for the Packers, Chiefs, Dolphins, Broncos and Redskins.
During an interview with XTRA 910 Radio, via SportsRadioInterviews.com, safety Adrian Wilson said he thought the defense was the Cardinals’ best unit and that they “should be the ones winning games for us.” Holliday gives the team another piece to make that happen.
