With free agency approaching and a load of cuts expected around the league the next two days, some guys are willing to take less to stay where they are.
Vikings right tackle Phil Loadholt is apparently one of those.
According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Loadholt has agreed to a new deal that will pay him $2 million in base salary and incentives that could bump it to $3.5 million. He was scheduled to make $5.4 million this year.
But coming off a torn Achilles last preseason, Loadholt would have likely been released if he hadn’t taken the pay cut.
The Vikings also re-signed exclusive rights free agent wide receiver Adam Thielen and tackle Carter Bykowski, and gave an restricted free agent fullback Zach Line a tender to keep him for another year.
