The Vikings promoted first-year tight end Chase Ford from the practice squad on Saturday.

The move gives Minnesota three healthy tight ends for Sunday’s game vs. Green Bay with reserve Rhett Ellison (ankle) ruled out for Week Eight. Ford, who has been on the practice squad all season, could provide depth behind Kyle Rudolph and John Carlson.

The 23-year-old Ford has also had stints on the Cowboys’ and Eagles’ practice squads. He is a Miami (Fla.) product.

In a corresponding transaction, the Vikings waived defensive end Justin Trattou.
