The good news is that the UFL hasn’t folded. For now.
The bad news, especially for one of the five teams, is that the league officially has contracted to four franchises. The league also will play in 2011 a reduced schedule of six games.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Hartford Colonials will “suspend operations” for the 2011 season. Their players will be divvied up via an August 15 allocation draft. Each of the four remaining teams will pick six players from the Hartford roster.
The development ends, for now, the UFL career of former Oilers and Falcons coach Jerry Glanville (pictured). The other four head coaches are Dennis Green (Sacramento), Jim Fassel (Las Vegas), Joe Moglia (Omaha), and Marty Schottenheimer (Virginia).
