It appeared that Torry Holt’s career quietly ended last season when the Patriots released him in August with an injury settlement. Holt just isn’t sure he’s at the end of the line yet.

I haven’t retired,” Holt told Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “I’m going to continue to keep my options open. I’m training right now. So if something comes about — great. If not, hey, the NFL Network has been good to me. They gave me an opportunity to talk football, stay around the game. We’ll see.”

Holt has also stayed around the game by coaching up the young Rams receivers at their voluntary workouts recently. He could wind up coaching in the long run, but made it clear he’d still like to play. Dr. James Andrews gave him the go ahead medically.

“Just to clear it up for you, if it means anything to anybody. I’m able to work and do the things that I’m accustomed to doing to get ready [for a season],” Holt said.

If there is no training camp, veterans like Holt could get one last chance over rookies that would struggle to pick up a playbook quickly.
