The Giants will be taking a moment to revel in past glories on Monday night when they induct former defensive end Justin Tuck, former General Manager Ernie Accorsi and former coach Tom Coughlin into their Ring of Honor.
Tuck won’t be coming back to the NFL and Accorsi hasn’t done anything but consult with teams since leaving the Giants, but Coughlin’s name still comes up now and then when discussions of potential head coaching hires flare up around the league. Coughlin is working for the league as an advisor right now, but said in a Tuesday conference call about the Giants honor that he misses being on the sideline.
“Am I missing the sideline? I would be less than honest if I had told you that I didn’t miss the sideline,” Coughlin said, via the New York Post. “As far as the future holds, who knows? I wouldn’t speculate on anything.”
Coughlin is 70 and the Giants were unsuccessful in his final four years on the sideline, both which would surely be issues for any team that might consider bringing him back to the sideline. He won in both Jacksonville and with the Giants, though, and teams that haven’t been doing that of late might like to see if Coughlin can do the same with them even if it’s for the short term.
