TITANS RELEASE CHRIS SIMMS

The Tennessee Titans have released backup quarterback Chris Simms, just three weeks after they signed him. But Simms might not be gone long; the Tennessean reports that Simms is expected to be re-signed early next week. For this week, however, the Titans decided he was expendable when they needed to add punter Josh Miller to the roster for tomorrow’s game at Baltimore in case punter Craig Hentrich, who had back spasms this week, can’t play. With Simms gone, Vince Young will be the No.2 quarterback behind Kerry Collins. Simms has been Collins’ backup while Young recovered from his Week 1 knee injury, but Young returned to practice this week. Hentrich is listed as questionable on the official injury report. Young is listed as probable.
