Free agent running back Tim Hightower was scheduled to visit the New York Giants nearly a month ago but the trip never actually materialized.
Now with the conclusion of the NFL Draft, the visit is back on.
According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Hightower is expected to visit the Giants on Wednesday.
Hightower didn’t play in the league last season after suffering a torn ACL with the Washington Redskins in 2011. If his knee checks out, he could be invited to try out with the Giants during their rookie mini-camp next weekend.
The Giants don’t appear to have much room for Hightower on their roster. New York has David Wilson and Andre Brown as their first options in the backfield and Ryan Torain and Da’Rel Scott as added depth. However, if Hightower looks to be back to his former self, the version that scored 23 touchdowns in his first three seasons in Arizona, the Giants may take a flier on him and give him an opportunity to fight his way onto the roster.
