His father became an NFL MVP after playing college football at Alcorn State. Now, Steve McNair Jr. hopes to make it to the league via a similar small-school route.
Steve McNair Jr. has decided to play football at Midwestern State, after playing at Pearl River Community College in Mississippi.
“We just got back from a visit over there, and he really liked it. He’s ready to get out of Mississippi,” the player’s mother told the Hattiesburg American. (Brett Favre needs an explanation.)
McNair’s son played offense and defense at Pearl River, catching 69 passes and making 43 tackles. He’ll focus on receiver at Midwestern State.
Located in Wichita Falls, Texas, Midwestern State is a Division II school. Alcorn State was a member of Division I-AA (now FCS) when Steve McNair played there.
Steve McNair died on July 4, 2009, the victim of what police deemed to be a murder-suicide.
