As expected, the Steelers have placed tackle Willie Colon on injured reserve, following a torn Achilles’ tendon suffered during offseason workouts.
Though the team flirted with Flozell Adams as a replacement, Adams wanted too much money.
Instead, the Steelers have added a veteran with a lower NFL “Q” rating -- Adrian Jones.
Jones, a fourth-round pick in 2004 of the Jets, started 44 games before being cut late in the 2007 season, Eric Mangini’s first second year as head coach. Jones started 10 games with the Chiefs in 2008, and he was out of the league in 2009 after being cut by the Texans in training camp.
