Apparently, the haze of painkillers has caused Ike Taylor to refer to himself in the third person.

But the Steelers cornerback said after surgery to repair his grotesquely broken arm that he planned to return this season.

Ike will be back,” Taylor said, via Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Of course, he was still in a hospital bed when he said it. He broke both the radius and ulna when teammate Lawrence Timmons hit him with some friendly fire.

“I tried to get my arm out of the way, but it was kind of too late,” Taylor said. “Right now, I am recovering and I feel good. We are going to see [Wednesday] the [exact] timetable when I am coming back, but right now I am just resting.”

He’s expected to miss at least six to eight weeks.

The Steelers have already used their IR/designated for return spot on outside linebacker Jarvis Jones, so they appear willing to wait on Taylor.
