Jaguars rookie receiver Justin Blackmon was sidelined by a sore foot at today’s minicamp, but the team says that’s no big deal.
Jacksonville coach Mike Mularkey said the coaching staff had already seen Blackmon on the practice field and didn’t want him to do anything to aggravate it when he said his foot was sore.
“We saw what we needed to see,” Mularkey said, via Jaguars.com. “We got a good chance to install and be around him, and him be around us. We just thought it would be smart on our part and on his part if we held him out of the drills and had him ready when OTAs start here in about eight days. . . . He was just sore and we just felt like, ‘Was it worth the risk? Why push it any more?”
Blackmon was on the field for the first three practices of the rookie minicamp before sitting out the fourth. Mularkey said Blackmon might have been over-thinking things “because of all the newness,” but added, “He’ll get faster in everything he does.”
