Maybe the Lone Ranger would have been a better description.

Texans wide receiver DeVier Posey was talking about quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, and referred to his “cowboy mentality.”

That drew a laugh from Texans coach Bill O’Brien, who noted Fitzpatrick’s well-documented educational background.

“That’s an interesting way to describe Ryan,” O’Brien said. “I’m not sure a Harvard guy’s ever been described with a cowboy mentality.

“He’s a good guy, and he’s fun to coach. He’s thrown the ball accurately. He works hard. He’s picked up the system well. He earned the job. We’re looking forward to seeing how he does in training camp.”

The Texans have little choice but to ride with Fitzpatrick at this point. They can only hope his Wild West background as a Buffalo Bill serves him well, until they can work on the position again next offseason.
