The Seahawks beat the Rams easily on Thursday night, but Richard Sherman wasn’t entirely satisfied.
Sherman yelled at offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and coach Pete Carroll on the sideline during the game, and afterward he said it was because he doesn’t like the Seahawks’ offensive play calling near the goal line.
“I don’t like it when we throw the ball at the 1,” Sherman said. “We throw an interception at the 1, luckily it went incomplete and I wasn’t going to let them continue to do that.”
Of course, it’s not Sherman’s place to “let them” do anything. The coaches call the plays, and a cornerback doesn’t have input on which plays the offense runs. But Sherman said that after the Seahawks lost Super Bowl XLIX with an interception at the 1-yard line, he doesn’t want to see that again.
“I’m upset about us throwing from the 1,” Sherman said. “I’d rather do what most teams would do and make a conscientious decision to run the ball straight up the middle. We’ve already seen how that goes. I’m sure you guys have seen that play enough times.”
Carroll tried to downplay the matter, saying, “It was nothing. It was just guys being fired up.”
Sherman seemed more than just fired up. He seemed furious at what he was seeing on the other side of the ball.
