Reports: Dan Skuta expected to sign five-year deal with Jaguars

Dan Skuta

The Jacksonville Jaguars are doing their best to spend some of the copious amounts of cap space they have at their disposal.

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN.com, the Jaguars are expected to sign San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dan Skuta after the start of free agency at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

The deal is expected to be a five-year, $20.5 million deal, per Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

Skuta started 10 games for the 49ers last season with numerous injuries (NaVorro Bowman, Patrick Willis, Chris Borland) and off-field incidents (Aldon Smith) at the position. He recorded 33 tackles, five sacks and three forced fumbles for San Francisco.

Skuta is a versatile player that has played both inside and outside linebacker in the 49ers 3-4 system. With Gus Bradley employing a 4-3 scheme in Jacksonville, Skuta will likely be better suited as an outside linebacker.
