Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford did not miss a play today after suffering an injury to his throwing hand, but that doesn’t mean the injury wasn’t significant.
Stafford suffered a dislocation and torn ligaments to the middle finger of his right hand, ESPN reports.
The Lions’ medical staff taped Stafford’s finger after he injured it, and he finished the game wearing a glove on his passing hand. Stafford didn’t have his best game, throwing a costly pick-six in the fourth quarter, but he was able to lead a game-winning touchdown drive after that, so there doesn’t seem to be any doubt that Stafford can play through the injury.
Stafford had to wear a glove for part of the 2011 season when he broke the index finger on his right hand. The Lions ended that season in the playoffs, and Stafford will try to manage the same feat this year.
