Can a man named Frostee find success in the desert heat?
It looks like we’ll get a chance to find out. Mike Jurecki of XTRA910 in Phoenix reports that the Cardinals have agreed to terms with veteran defensive lineman Frostee Rucker on a contract for the 2013 season.
Rucker signed a five-year deal with the Browns before the 2012 season, but got cut in early February with the team’s decision that he didn’t fit the scheme with former Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton taking on the same position in Cleveland. Rucker had 48 tackles and four sacks for Cleveland in 2012 and turned in a similarly solid year for the Bengals the previous year.
The Cardinals also added Matt Shaughnessy to the defensive line mix recently. Arizona also has Darnell Dockett, Calais Campbell, David Carter and Dan Williams as holdovers from last season with Dockett expected to see more time as an interior player than he did in Horton’s system.
UPDATE 2:50 p.m. ET: The Cardinals have made the deal official. It’s a one-year contract.
