The Colts just opened the door for their own veteran wide receiver.

And now they may be close to walking another one in, with some company.

According to Houston radio host Lance Zierlein of SportsTalk 790, both Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson and 49ers running back Frank Gore could be heading to Indianapolis.

The Eagles were in on both players, and thought they had a deal with Gore before he apparently got cold feet.

Replacing the 36-year-old Reggie Wayne with the 33-year-old Johnson would be an upgrade, and Gore’s more productive than any back they’ve tried there in a few years.

Putting two such accomplished players around quarterback Andrew Luck would be a huge boost, and keep the strength of the team strong, if the Colts are able to close the deal.
