Ravens Sign Kelley Washington

The Baltimore Ravens made it official, signing veteran unrestricted free agent wide receiver Kelley Washington today to a one-year contract, the team announced. Washington was signed by the team after a strong tryout at a recent full-team minicamp where the team also auditioned Jerry Porter and Tab Perry. Meanwhile, the Ravens cut wide receiver Marcus Maxwell today. A former third-round draft pick, Washington played for Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson when he was coaching the Cincinnati Bengals’ receivers. “Kelley is a professional who’s been in this system and has had hard coaching,” Jackson said in a statement. “I know [wide receivers] coach [Jim] Hostler will take him to a whole different level. I also think Kelley is good for our guys in that he knows what to expect, and he’s willing to do everything it takes for our team to succeed.” Washington caught one pass last season for the New England Patriots, blocking one punt. In six NFL seasons, Washington has registered 73 career receptions for 896 yards and nine touchdowns. Washington was cut by the Patriots in February two years after signing a five-year contract with a maximum value of $22 million.
