Earlier this offseason, MDS brought you a story about the Rams switching gargantuan undrafted rookie Terrell Brown to the offensive line after he played on the defensive line in college.
Brown, who stands 6-foot-10 and weighed 403 pounds when he joined the Rams, won’t be making an impact for the team on either side of the ball this season, though. The Rams dropped Brown from the roster with a waived-injured designation, which Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports is due to an injury he had before signing with the team. The team also waived linebacker Phillip Steward, who tore his Achilles tendon while rehabbing a back injury at the Rams facility last week.
Thomas also reports that the Rams are expected to fill one of the newly opened roster spots with veteran linebacker Will Witherspoon. Witherspoon was one of several linebackers who visited with the team in June and spent all or some of four seasons with the Rams earlier in his career.
Witherspoon also played for Rams coach Jeff Fisher and other members of the coaching staff during his time with the Titans, which appears to have helped open the door to a training camp invite.
