The career of Taylor Mays has taken another turn.
Mays, the onetime second-round pick of the 49ers who has also spent time with the Bengals, Vikings and Lions, was cut by the Raiders.
The Raiders hadn’t been playing Mays much this season, and this week he was listed as questionable because of an ankle injury, so today they decided to let him go and promote rookie Tevin McDonald from the practice squad.
The 27-year-old Mays was an All-American at USC and has athletic talent, but he’s never managed to do much as an NFL player. It’s possible that his career is now done.
