The Lions aren’t the only team whose fans are fed up. We’ve heard that the Oakland Raiders’ game Sunday against the Carolina Panthers will be blacked out on local television, making it two NFL games this weekend that the local fans can’t watch without buying a ticket. Blackouts don’t become official until 72 hours before kickoff, but for this Sunday’s Raiders game, the writing has been on the wall for a while. Raiders CEO Amy Trask said Wednesday, “I don’t believe this game will be on TV.” It’s a testament to the popularity of the NFL that even franchises that field as inferior a product as the Raiders and Lions put forth continue to sell out most of their games. And the Raiders say they expect to sell out their next two home games, against the Chiefs and Patriots. But sometimes the fans say enough is enough, and that’s what’s happening this weekend in Detroit and Oakland.
