The state of Maryland is divided on one of the pressing issues of our time: Is Joe Flacco elite?

Public Policy Polling surveyed Maryland residents in anticipation of next week’s presidential primary, and while polling the state about politics decided to ask questions about sports as well. One of those questions was, “Do you think Joe Flacco is a elite Quarterback, or not?”

The survey found that 39 percent say Flacco is elite, 31 percent say Flacco is not elite, and 30 percent are not sure.

Democrats and Republicans basically agreed on the topic, with Democrats saying Flacco is elite by a 36-32 margin, and Republicans saying Flacco is elite by a 43-35 margin. Independents said Flacco is elite by a 42-23 margin.

The poll also found that 38 percent of Maryland residents consider Baltimore their favorite NFL team, while 22 percent choose Washington. The Cowboys have the support of 6 percent of Maryland, the Steelers 5 percent and the Packers and Giants 4 percent each.
