Former Tennessee quarterback Matt Simms, one of Phil Simms’ football-playing sons, wasn’t drafted. But he’ll get a chance to win an NFL job this week, as he participates in the Jets’ minicamp on a tryout basis.

Matt Simms is one of 23 tryout players who have been invited to the camp. The best of the best could join the 10 undrafted free agents with whom the Jets have reached agreements in principle.

The Jets’ new undrafted free agents are: OL John Cullen (Utah); LB Marcus Dowtin (North Alabama); CB Donnie Fletcher (Boston College)l DL Damon Harrison (William Penn); QB G.J. Kinne (Tulsa); TE Brian Linthicum (Michigan St.); DB D’Anton Lynn (Penn State); CB Ryan Steed (Furman); LB Donovan Robinson (Jackson State); and LB Brett Roy (Nevada).

UPDATE 6:46 p.m. ET: As several folks have reminded us, Chris Simms (brother of Matt and former NFL quarterback) recently took a coaching job with the Patriots.
