The chance to walk the red carpet the night of the draft was apparently the end of the A-list lifestyle for at least one first-rounder.
Because these days, Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch leads a pretty boring existence.
Lynch said after another day of OTAs in which he split practice reps with the starters with Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian that he didn’t have much of a life outside football just yet.
“We’re pretty busy,” Lynch said in comments distributed by the team. “The rookies are up here really early working out first before anyone else gets here. We kind of have to do everything else with the team. After that, we get what we get to take home. By that time, I’m usually studying my playbook until 7 or 8 p.m., when I have to go to sleep because I have to be up at 5 a.m. the next morning.
“I don’t really have time to do anything because I don’t really want to come out here and stumble around and let those guys see that. I take my books home and do what I’ve got to do so the next day I can come out here and play.”
Of course, Lynch is the new guy, and has to say that kind of stuff early on.
Since Sanchez is the presumed starter based on experience and Siemian is the only guy in the room with any experience running coach Gary Kubiak’s offense (even if it was just one year as the third-stringer), Lynch has two guys ahead of him.
But because those guys are Sanchez and Siemian, it’s also not such a gulf that someone couldn’t potentially make it up, especially if they’re putting in the hours.
