The Patriots added a player to their offense Friday by signing wide receiver Chris Hogan away from the Bills and they’ve added a player to their defense as well.
The team announced that they have signed defensive lineman Frank Kearse. While Hogan figures to have a role in New England’s offense next season, Kearse’s outlook isn’t so clear.
He spent the last two years with the Redskins and was with the Cowboys in 2013, but hasn’t started a game since he was a member of the Panthers in 2012. He appeared in four games last season and had four tackles and a sack. He had three sacks while playing 15 games in a reserve role for Washington in 2014.
Kearse will likely compete for a spot behind Dominique Easley, Malcom Brown and Alan Branch on the interior of the Patriots line.
