Hollywood Brown has progressed to being a full participant in practice, with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid noting on Tuesday that the receiver could make his 2024 debut on Saturday against the Texans.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes — who was also a full participant on Tuesday despite suffering an ankle injury in Week 15 — told reporters Brown “looked great” in practice.
“I think coach spoke on it a little bit. It’s not like he hurt his leg, so he got out there and he was rolling around. I think, more than anything, it’s him getting back in football shape. It’s just different than training and stuff like that. And him being able to feel confident enough to go out there and take hits and stuff like that, which he’s been cleared to do.
“So, it’s about him getting more and more reps. You don’t want to overdo it. But you want to let him go out there when he’s ready, and hopefully that’s sooner rather than later.”
Brown went down with a shoulder injury during Kansas City’s first preseason game and has not been able to play so far this season after signing a one-year deal with the club as a free agent.
Last year with Arizona, Brown caught 51 passes for 574 yards with four touchdowns in 14 games.
