Two days after being waived, tailback Chris Ogbonnaya is back on the Panthers’ 53-player roster.
Carolina re-signed Ogbonnaya on Wednesday, per the NFL’s transactions.
The 28-year-old Ogbonnaya has appeared in five games as a reserve for Carolina in 2014, rushing for 50 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. He’s one of four backs on the Panthers’ roster, with DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart and Fozzy Whittaker the others.
In other Panthers running backs news, Mike Tolbert returned to practice on Wednesday, according to the league. Tolbert was placed on injured reserve/designated for recall because of a broken leg on Sept. 23. The earliest Tolbert can return to game action is Sunday, November 30 vs. Minnesota. With his return to practice, the Panthers now have until Wednesday, November 26 to re-add him to the roster.
The Panthers (3-5-1) play at Philadelphia on Monday night.
