This Giants team is getting credit this week for being a better team top-to-bottom than their last title squad.
That may be true, but there’s an area where the Giants are far weaker: Their offensive line. They haven’t played particularly well all season, which makes Eli Manning’s season even more remarkable.
Even offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride admits the group has issues.
“It’s been a . . . process,” Gilbride said, searching for the right words. “It’s been a transitional process. We lost two our two starters that were kind of the heart and sou of our team in Richie Seubert and Shaun O’Hara. We lost William Beatty, our starting left tackle. We’ve been shuffling guys around, trying to get (center) David Baas up to speed. We haven’t been together as long. Baas has been a missed a bunch of games. It’s been a growth process, there’s no question.”
The Giants defensive line has received a lot of attention this week, and rightfully so. But the Patriots defensive line has been playing its best football of late and could dominate the line of scrimmage.
