On Thursday, Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco punctuated a Twitter rant regarding a blackout of the team’s home game by vowing to buy all unsold tickets.

It didn’t happen.

Per FanHouse.com, the official reason is that it was too late to unring the bell, given that the 72-hour deadline already has passed. But we’re not so sure we buy that one. If someone was willing to write a check to buy all unsold tickets (at 34 cents on the dollar) and in turn allow the game to be televised even though a few hours after a routinely-extended deadline had passed, why not do it?

We suspect that, in reality, once Chad learned the price of lifting the blackout, he decided to keep the money in his wallet. As one media member explained it, this was simply a case of “Chad being Chad.”
