The start of the NFL offseason can be short on breaking news, giving some of us in the media world a chance to catch up on things that slipped through the cracks during busier times of the season.

For several members of that group, the trip into the past took them all the way back to last summer. Several outlets, including ESPN, FOX Sports and the NFL’s own website, have stories on Monday touting former Packers quarterback Brett Favre’s release of a statement regarding his plans for a 2015 return to Lambeau Field coinciding with his entry into the team’s Hall of Fame.

Favre did release such a statement, he just happened to do it back in August when the Packers announced that he’d be enshrined into the team’s Hall in July. It’s the same statement, which offers no date for Favre’s much-anticipated return to the Packers stadium and which we’ll include here in case anyone else missed it while enjoying warmer temperatures next year.

“I’m pleased to announce that I will be returning to Green Bay, Wisconsin in 2015 for induction into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and retirement of my jersey. It was a tremendous honor to play 16 years for the Green Bay Packers. Now to have my name placed among others such as Starr, Hornung, Kramer, Taylor, Lambeau, Nitschke, Lombardi, Davis, White and Hutson is a special honor that I share with all of my teammates and coaches, and that would not have been possible but for the foresight of Ron Wolf, the greatest GM In the history of the NFL. I’m truly looking forward to celebrating and sharing this special moment with all of the great fans of the Green Bay Packers.”

As soon as there is an announcement regarding the date for Favre’s return, we’ll have it for you along with everything that happens during what’s sure to be a memorable moment at Lambeau Field.
