The Browns might be interested in talking to some college coaches.
But not that college coach.
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer shot down a report that former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel was interviewing for the Browns vacancy.
The initial report came from a radio station in Akron, where Tressel now works as an administrator at the University of Akron. The 61-year-old Tressel led the Buckeyes to three national title game appearances.
The Browns have been reported to have interest in other college types, including Bob Stoops, Gus Malzahn and James Franklin, though it’s unclear if that’s actual interest or the traditional floating-of-names-for-raises which agents are so prolific at.
The Browns have lined up a number of interviews with NFL coaches, a list headed by Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
They also interviewed Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles Friday.
