Nick Sirianni says he hasn’t yet thought about adding Frank Reich to Eagles staff

Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni worked under former Carolina and Indianapolis head coach Frank Reich for three seasons, serving as offensive coordinator.

When Reich was fired from the Colts last year, Sirianni entertained the idea of adding Reich to Philadelphia’s staff — before going out and defeating Indianapolis and admitting he was emotional about the victory because Reich had been dismissed.

Now Reich has been fired again, this time from the Panthers. Though Reich told Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer on Monday that Carolina was likely his last coaching job, he may have another opportunity with Philadelphia if he wants it.

“You know what, it’s obviously very early with everything that’s going on, so I haven’t thought about that quite yet,” Sirianni said, via transcript from the team. “As far as bringing somebody in, in the middle of the year, what goes into that, a lot of times is familiarity with the person. So that’s what goes into that quite often, is the familiarity with the coach, the relationship with the coach.

“But, I’m not there yet. Obviously, we just finished up our evaluation of our game and starting in on San Francisco.”

The Eagles will take on the 49ers in Week 13. Whether or not they’ll have Reich on staff to assist Sirianni for another stretch run remains to be seen.
