Nick Bosa has soreness, tendinitis in his surgically repaired knee

49ers defensive end Nick Bosa has missed five consecutive practices.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said earlier this week that Bosa was experiencing soreness as he returns from a torn ACL in his right knee. On Tuesday, Shanahan added tendinitis to the explanation for Bosa’s recent absence.

“Just soreness, tendinitis,” Shanahan said, via video from his news conference. “It’s a pretty normal thing with ACLs. Talking to our guys, they say it happens with about 90 percent of the [time]. So, it’s a normal thing. We’ve got to be smart here week to week, but no concerns about it being any more than that.”

Bosa injured his knee in a Sept. 21 game against the Cardinals and underwent surgery Sept. 26.

Bosa, 28, has not had a double-digit sack season since 2023, which is the last time he played all 17 games. He has played only 17 games over the past two seasons, totaling 11 sacks.
