After a search process that included advertising the job on the Internet, the NFL has finally found a replacement for V.P. of security Jeff Miller.
The league announced Tuesday that Cathy Lanier will assume the role next month. In 2007, Lanier became the Chief of Police for the Metropolitan Police Department for the District of Columbia, serving in that role under three mayors. She has 26 years of law enforcement experience.
“We are excited to welcome to our team an individual of Cathy’s talent and extensive record of accomplishments,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a release. “Cathy joins us with a well-deserved reputation of being a tremendous communicator, innovator and relationship builder.”
The league announced in early May that Miller was leaving the job.
