The NFL season is almost over, and there still hasn’t been a single shutout. That has never happened before.
This is the first season ever in which there have been no shutouts through 15 weeks. According to Stathead.com, every previous NFL season has had at least two shutouts in the first 15 weeks.
Last year there were six shutouts through Week 15, and then one more each in Week 17 and Week 18.
The fewest points scored by any team in a game in 2024 is three, which has happened five times this season. Last year there were 17 games in which a team scored three or fewer points through the first 15 weeks of the season.
Overall, scoring is up by one point per team per game: This year teams are averaging 22.8 points per game; last year teams averaged 21.8 points per game. That may be most noteworthy at the bottom, when even the worst offenses are managing to put some points on the board every week.
