The Nashville Metro police have reassigned officer Shawn Taylor, who arrested Sahel “Jenni” Kazemi for DUI two days before she killed former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, and then herself.
The news comes from WSMV-TV, Nashville’s NBC affiliate. (Cue the tones.)
Taylor came under scrutiny for the tone he used when calling a colleague after stopping the car that Kazemi was driving, and in which McNair was riding.
Spokesperson Don Aaron said the reassignment is “not punitive,” and that Deputy Chief Steve Anderson made the decision to transfer Taylor based on “the totality of circumstances.”
Taylor stopped McNair for DUI in 2003. Nearly two weeks ago, Taylor arrested Titans receiver Chris Davis for DUI. The team thereafter cut Davis.
Taylor’s new assignment hasn’t been identified. We have a feeling it involves parking meters.
