The preseason has advanced to the point at which most fights happen during joint practices. But there are still squabbles among players on the same squad.
Via Tim McManus of ESPN, Eagles defensive tackle Moro Ojomo and tackle Fred Johnson got into a fight on Thursday, which eventually required them to be pulled apart. Twice.
As McManus explains it, things got started when Johnson gave Ojomo a late shove during team drills. Ojomo braced to fight Johnson.
The players weren’t removed from action.
On the next play, Johnson blocked Ojomo to the ground. Johnson landed on Ojomo with his full body weight. The players traded punches before they were separated.
Not long after that, Ojomo worked his way through a cluster of bodies and dove at Johnson’s knees.
The players were separated again. Coach Nick Sirianni, G.M. Howie Roseman, and the multi-titled Big Dom worked to calm Johnson down.
So, yes, it’s time for the Eagles to direct their aggression to others. They’ll open the preseason on Saturday night against the Ravens.
