The blog posting from Deanna Favre says that the reports of her husband’s phone call to the Lions prior to the team’s Week Two game against his old team have taken a “daily toll” on him. But yet, as of this posting, the link to the story on the front page of ESPN.com currently read as follows: “Favre’s wife defends ‘unchanged’ QB in blog.” The story to which the headline links, however, doesn’t include the word “unchanged.” The closest Mrs. Favre ever comes to saying “unchanged” is in the following quote: “Brett is the same man we know who is filled with great character, strength, goodness and love. Truly, nothing has changed but a uniform.” That’s a big-picture observation; the headline on ESPN.com’s front page implies (in our view) that the recent report hasn’t changed him. ESPN was widely criticized this week for ignoring the story of Favre talking to the Lions until after Favre’s detailed press conference on Wednesday, at which time the story went from being the subject of an internal gag order to the hottest thing that the ESPN talking heads were talking about. Meanwhile, be sure to catch the exclusive interview of Deanna Favre on ESPN during Tuesday night’s E:60.
