Mike Zimmer says no QB announcement before Sunday

It remains to be seen who the Vikings will start at QB in Week 1, but Mike Florio thinks they should go with Shaun Hill over the recently-acquired Sam Bradford.

The Vikings depth chart says that Shaun Hill is their No. 1 quarterback ahead of Sam Bradford and guard Alex Boone suggested that Hill will be the starter against the Titans this weekend, but coach Mike Zimmer says he won’t be spilling the beans before it’s absolutely necessary.

During his Wednesday meeting with the media, Zimmer said that he won’t publicly name a starting quarterback before the start of the game on Sunday.

“If it’s Bradford, it’s Bradford,” Zimmer said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “If it’s Shaun, it’s Shaun. We’ve got three more days of practice.”

Bradford would have a lot of catching up to do in a short amount of time if he’s going to be on the field Sunday, although he said that he’s confident about his ability to get the offense down in time for the game. As for Hill, he said life as a backup quarterback has taught him to be ready for anything without warning and he’s keeping with that approach leading into Week One.
