Wide receiver Julio Jones didn’t get on the practice field for the Falcons on Thursday, but coach Mike Smith remains hopeful about Jones’s chances of playing through his hip injury against the Steelers on Sunday.
It was the second straight day on the sideline for Jones, but Smith said after practice that he feels Jones’s condition has improved throughout the week. Smith said the same goes for safety William Moore, who has also missed both practice days with a foot injury.
“I think that there’s a chance that these guys will be ready to go,” Smith said, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Both of them have made a big turnaround in the first 48 hours. Unusually, that first 48 hours is a pretty good indicator. They both will be game time decisions, but do like the way that they’ve progressed through the first 48 hours.”
Jones has set a new career high for single-game receiving yards in each of the last two games and might have a shot at making it three against the lacking Pittsburgh pass defense if he can go this weekend.
