Redskins coach Mike Shanahan doesn’t care that the team’s game against the Cowboys was flexed to Sunday night.
While the results of the Bears and Vikings games will be known, potentially offering the Redskins a path into the playoffs other than beating Dallas, Shanahan said that the goal was still to win the division. And if the team has to win to get in, Shanahan likes their chances after playing the last six weeks under similar circumstances.
“I think it’s good. I think it’s really good. They get used to the pressure over the last six weeks, knowing every game is do or die,” Shanahan said, via the Washington Post. “They’re used to that scenario right now. They know we have to play our best football, and everything we’re working for comes back to this weekend: taking advantage of what we’ve done the last six weeks. It really doesn’t mean anything unless we take advantage of our game against Dallas.”
There’s not much reason for the Redskins to take their foot off the pedal at this point. Whatever happens Sunday afternoon, the division title means a home game and that’s something well worth the fight even if there’s another door into the playoffs.
