While Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was struggling in a loss to the Saints on Monday night, his younger brother Marcus Vick was tweeting about how terrible the Eagles’ offensive line is and how he wishes his brother could play elsewhere. When Michael found out about that after the game, he wasn’t happy.
And so Michael told reporters on Wednesday that he doesn’t agree with what his brother said and that he had a long talk with his brother about not doing anything to damage the Vick name.
“That’s not me,” Vick said. “If it doesn’t come from me . . . I’m in the middle of a full-fledged game. I don’t know what’s being said. I don’t know what’s going on. But I definitely got it corrected. We definitely had a serious heart-to-heart conversation.”
Marcus Vick tweeted an apology on Tuesday, apparently after his big brother had told him to, and Michael said on Wednesday that he’s confident his brother got the message.
“You’ll never see that again,” Michael Vick said. “Trust me.”
Marcus has a long history of actions that draw negative attention to himself, both on the field during his time at Virginia Tech and off the field during and after his playing career. But Michael is having a tough enough season without Marcus also drawing negative attention toward his brother.
