Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert remains on injured reserve/designated for return with a dislocated right elbow suffered on Sept. 7 at Baltimore.
But Eifert’s return this season reportedly is not a given.
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis indicated Friday that Eifert might not come back in 2014, Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
The Bengals’ first-round pick in 2013, the 24-year-old Eifert caught 39 passes for 445 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a rookie. The Notre Dame product caught all three passes thrown to him for 37 yards in just eight snaps in the season opener before his injury.
Losing Eifert for the entire season would be a blow to Cincinnati (5-3-1), whose passing game was a major liability in a 24-3 loss to Cleveland on Thursday night.
